Avis Sauls

Avis Sauls is a 2003 graduate of Texas Christian University where she received her BFA in Modern/Contemporary Dance. She also received training at Dallas Black Dance Theater and Brookhaven Community College. After graduating from TCU, she obtained the position of Drill Team Director at West Mesquite H.S. During her time there, Avis implemented the school’s first dance program which grew tremendously in size and stature. Later she transitioned to Cedar Hill H.S. as Dance Director.  While at Cedar Hill, Avis became inspired to start Essence Dance Academy.

Through Essence Dance Academy, Avis works to implement new dance programs and improve existing dance programs in schools, organizations and churches. Avis also directs summer private camps and intensives. Classes offered by Essence Dance Academy include ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, creative movement, and much more. Essence Dance Academy was birthed through Avis’ desire to impact lives through dance.
